German 1 is designed  to provide an integrated approach to learning the basic functional skills of the German language. The two main objectives of the course are:

1. Students will develop German communication skills in the four  areas of  reading, writing, listening and speaking.

2. Students will explore important aspects of culture and society in German speaking countries, mostly Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

At the end of the year, students will be able to hold practical conversations in German and they will have gained a deeper knowledge of the differences between cultures.
